I have always been interested in technology and coding. I remember finding out about “GWBasic” and how I could enter numbers and letters and create a game. I could make a colorful ball bounce around the screen as fast or as slow as I wanted. I tried it. And I did it. I was amazed!
That was around 1990. Since then, I did not do much about my Coding passion, although I spent considerable amount of time on the computer exploring websites, writing blogs (well, one or two entries before I forgot about them…), and being amazed at how cool the Web has become.
This is why I chose to take a Web Design course at the Boise State University as a part of my Master’s Degree in Educational Technology. In the course we used DreamWeaver and FireWorks to create HTML5/CSS Web pages. Assignment by assignment, I learned how to change colors and layouts, to insert and manipulate photos, to use someone else’s Website layout and add my personal touch, and more. It was fascinating!
I would like to use this stage to share my final product for the course. It is my Teacher Page (still hosted on Boise State University servers), which includes personal information as well as lessons and other instructional materials I created throughout the course. The design and content of each of these pages (under “Projects”) were coded from the ground up (aside from the main page, which was a template I found and adapted to my needs).
OK. So I am not a great designer… But I can still enjoy the wonders of this computing era!
And for those interested in learning how to design Web Pages, here are a few of the resources I used to get me started and going. Enjoy!
